Last Saturday, a group of corps members served alongside their students, other members of the community, and the Melrose East Project to replicate famous paintings by French artists to brighten the community environment. After we threw the color on the wall like amateurs, a local artist came behind us to bring painters like Monet, Degas, and Rembrandt to life through 9 incredible murals. You can see these murals across the street from BREC Saia Park in Baton Rouge.

Corps member Michael Dixon pulled his students out of class for an intervention and rewarded them with hot chocolate from Starbucks! The students were very grateful on that cold, dreary morning. Michael provides incentives like these for his students all the time out of his own pocket.
Corps member Ryan Branson works side by side with a Spanish speaker to create appreciations for the teachers and staff. Ryan is fluent in Spanish and helps to bridge the communication gap between this student and her teacher during her own free time.
