Meet our 2017 Comcast NBCUniversal Leadership Awards winners

For the past 28 years, City Year alumni have been making a difference in their communities both inside and outside of City Year.  Since 2005, Comcast NBCUniversal has recognized 67 City Year alumni with our highest alumni recognition–the Comcast NBCUniversal Leadership Award. This year’s recipients were honored last night at an awards dinner during City Year’s Summer Academy, sponsored by Comcast NBCUniversal.

This year’s leadership award winners are:


Beth Marco Bayouth
, City Year Chicago ’02, Director of Strategy & Development at Big Citizen HUB, for her authentic leadership and humble dedication to creating opportunities for youth.

Dan Foley, City Year New York ’09, ’10, Vice President & Executive Director at City Year Jacksonville, for his selfless and truly profound leadership, dedication to service and commitment to people, through which he has completely altered the trajectory of City Year Jacksonville’s success.

Brent Holsinger, City Year Boston ’04, Founder & President at On the Road Collaborative, for changing the way we think about every child’s potential and for working to close the opportunity gap in children’s achievements.

Mubarak Lawrence, City Year Philadelphia ’11, Vice President & Director of Operations at Rising Sons, Inc. and Alex Peay, City Year Philadelphia ’10, ’11, President & Founder of Rising Sons, Inc., for their leadership in providing large scale change.

Whitney Parnell, City Year Washington DC ’11, ’12, Co-Founder & CEO of Service Never Sleeps, for her unwavering and tireless dedication to service.

Previous recipients of the Comcast NBCUniversal Leadership award include City Year alumni leaders in city government, corporate social responsibility, education, community development and nonprofit sectors, in addition to City Year staff.
