On June 16, 2017, our 265 AmeriCorps members completed their year of service in a graduation ceremony at Northeastern University. There, more than 300 family members, friends, school partners, mentors, and champions gathered to celebrate the accomplishments of the corps and the growth of the students they served.

Along with each team taking the stage to present their highest achievements, several AmeriCorps member were honored with special awards:

  • Comcast Leadership Award – Senior AmeriCorps member Dana White of the Irving Middle School team
  • John T. O’Connor Community Award – AmeriCorps member Leigh Evans of the National Grid team with The English High School
  • Coolidge Citizenship Award – The CSX team with Mattahunt Elementary School
  • WilmerHale Civic Innovation Award – Senior AmeriCorps member Erin Chow of the Advent International team with Condon K-7 School

We were fortunate to hear from keynote speaker AmeriCorps member Izzy da Rosa of the Comcast NBCUniversal team serving with Jeremiah E. Burke High School reflect on watching a student learn to collaborate and seeing the value of collaboration on her own team.

The program concluded with Will Eger '08, Boston Public Schools Strategic Project Manager and City Year Alumni Board Member, welcoming the corps to the alumni community and leading them in their graduation pledge.

Thank you to everyone who has supported of our corps and their service this year. See the slideshow below to view more photos of City Year Boston’s 2017 Corps Graduation.
