On Friday, December 9, City Year Boston welcomed 300 investment community leaders, innovators, and change agents to our eighth Annual Investment Community Breakfast. Together, we raised more than $500,000, which will directly fund City Year Boston’s AmeriCorps members in service as tutors, mentors, and role models for thousands of students in 21 public schools across our city.

We also had the great pleasure of hearing from featured speaker and former Governor of Massachusetts, Deval Patrick, a formidable advocate for civic engagement who has spent his career dedicated to increasing opportunities for young people and their families in Massachusetts. Now a Managing Director at Bain Capital, he explained his ardent support of City Year:

"City Year is no joke. It's not just a nice thing to do.  A great service organization transcends the service itself, where service becomes not just what is done, but who you are. It’s a life lesson, a character contribution, and it has effects on kids like me, kids like you used to be, and kids that we owe it to our society to care about all across this city and beyond. And that's why I am proud that you are here and that's why I'm proud that you will give to this extraordinary initiative that makes us all better. "

We at City Year Boston would like to sincerely thank Deval Patrick, the sponsors and guests that made this event a great success. Thanks also to our Founding Chairs, Co-Chairs, and Event Vice Chairs. Our work at City Year Boston is only possible with the support of champions like you.
