On Monday, April 18, 2016, City Year Boston's team of four runners (Alex Cooke, Chris Mann, Amir Memon, and David Itzkovits) ran 26.2 miles in support of our work and raised a combined total of $43,979. With contributions made by the runners’ friends, family, and colleagues, and some matching gifts from those donors’ workplaces, the team was able to exceed its fundraising goal.
City Year Boston would like to thank the John Hancock Non-Profit Marathon Program, which we're proud to participate in for the second year in a row. By providing City Year with Boston Marathon runner entries, called bibs, John Hancock opens doors to additional funding that supports our AmeriCorps members' service to 10,000 students in Boston Public Schools who need additional academic and social-emotional support.
In addition to John Hancock, we'd like to extend our most sincere thanks to our Marathon sponsors EY and Sanlan, and to everyone who supported and cheered on the four runners, helping them all #runbold!
