Welcome to Cleveland!

Cleveland’s revitalized downtown, lakefront park and world-class museums make this low-key Midwestern city a cool place to be. For more than two decades, City Year AmeriCorps members have served Cleveland’s schools, helping students to thrive.

Living in Cleveland

Cleveland is in need of talented and passionate young people to help all students reach their full potential. A big city with a small-town feel, Cleveland offers a wide range of opportunities and entertainment for young people.

  • The overall cost of living in Cleveland is 10% below the national average. Between 2000 and 2015 Cleveland’s population grew by 77%
  • Millennials are the largest group moving here and the numbers continue to climb. AmeriCorps members typically live in Cleveland Heights, Shaker Heights, Lakewood and Cleveland City Proper
  • We recommend the Apartment Finder and Roommate Finder to help find your new home
  • No car? No problem! Cleveland’s Rapid system (also known as the RTA) and HealthLine was named the ‘Best’ Bus Rapid Transit in North America
  • There are plenty of cheap eats and free activities around the city, or look into Ohio’s Food Assistance program
  • You’ll appreciate all four seasons (and your City Year all-weather jacket!)
