Why I joined City Year: I joined City Year because teaching children has always been a passion of mine. I recently graduated with my degree in education and wasn't quite sure what my next step would be. What I did know was that I wanted to work with children and also have a change of scenery. City Year provided me with a chance to do both.
In the future: I hope to become an elementary school teacher specifically have my own 1st grade classroom. I think that City Year will be able to give me the appropriate tool in order for me to become a successful teacher.
Interesting fact: I was in a bowling league for 4 years when I was younger and won 1st place in my division.
Favorite PITW: #177 Our work at City Year is nothing if not fun. National Service, as a movement, looks to tap into the energy and idealism of our nation’s young people. Laughter is full of energy and idealism. Employ laughter as you would a tool—and watch what it can do!
