Alex Enriquez, Executive Director
Alex Enriquez is Vice President and Executive Director of City Year Dallas, an education-focused nonprofit that places AmeriCorps members in Dallas ISD schools for one year of full-time service. The AmeriCorps members serve all day, every day, providing whole school support, as well as targeted interventions to students who are off-track in attendance, behavior, or course performance in math or English.
Alex served as an AmeriCorps Member with City Year Washington, D.C. in 2005-2006. After completing 1,700 hours of national service with City Year, he joined the legislative office of Dallas-area Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson.
A Dallas native and third-generation DISD graduate (Bryan Adams High School ‘01), Alex was extremely excited to return to Dallas in 2014 and lead the effort to establish City Year in his hometown and provide young people the chance to serve in Dallas schools. Over the past two years City Year Dallas has grown from 20 AmeriCorps members in 2 schools to 61 AmeriCorps members in 7 schools. City Year now reaches 7,000 students in 3 Dallas neighborhoods.
Alex is a graduate of Florida State University and lives in historic east Dallas with his wife Betsy (also an alumnus of City Year) and their daughter Florence.
