Last Friday, City Year Los Angeles celebrated the accomplishments of our 275 AmeriCorps members who gave a year of full-time service to the students and communities of Los Angeles at our 6th Annual Graduation.

The inspiring evening included family, friends, and esteemed guest speakers including NBA All-Star Dwight Howard, and CYLA Co-Founder and Board Member, Ben Goldhirsh.

Howard stated: “It is smart, energetic young people like City Year corps members who can really make a difference in this world. I’m so inspired by your service and commitment to students in Los Angeles, and I know you will all go on to do great things in your communities and in your lives.”

Five corps members also received special recognition for their service, including Team Leader Olga Corona de la Cruz who received the Comcast NBCUniversal Leadership Award.

As corps members prepare for new and exciting chapters in their lives, graduation marks the beginning of a lifetime of service and leadership. Congratulations to the entire 2012-2013 City Year Los Angeles corps!
