On April 2 over 400 Starbucks partners and customers teamed up with City Year Los Angeles to bring an #extrashotofgood to Roscoe Ave. Elementary School in Sun Valley. The beautification of Roscoe was part of Starbucks’ Global Month of Service, as partners and customers work toward fulfilling one million hours of service before 2015.
Volunteers were greeted by Roscoe Ave Principal Mr. Garay and Starbucks Regional Vice President of Operations Tom Ferguson who both expressed their excitement for the day and stressed the positive impact the beautification projects would have on the school and community.
The service day was led by City Year Los Angeles’ Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo Civic Engagement team. City Year LA, along with the Starbucks partners and customers helped paint 29 murals and built 8 benches and 3 picnic tables for the nearly 800 students at Roscoe.
Photos of the amazing work done by volunteers can be found here.
Starbucks also supports City Year Los Angeles through its Youth Leadership grant program, helping to develop City Year’s young leaders who are working daily to keep students in school and on track to graduate.
Thanks again to all the Starbucks partners who helped us #makebetterhappen at Roscoe — and remember your #extrashotofgood!
