Empowering Futures: City Year’s Commitment to Career Development
At City Year, service is at the heart of everything we do. But our commitment to our corps members doesn’t end when their service year concludes. We’re dedicated to supporting their transition and career growth until they hang up their yellow jackets. This year we invested funds to expand our LACY (Leadership After City Year) initiative to ensure corps members have the clarity, confidence and connections to pursue their post-service goals.
Here are some exciting highlights of how we emphasized clarity, confidence and connections for our corps members this year:
CLARITY:
We hosted three summits for the whole corps, which featured valuable professional development training facilitated by staff and amazing corporate partners like Deloitte, Green Dot, Teach for America, and many more.
CONFIDENCE:
- This year we began our partnership with C5LA, where 40 corps members received 1:1 college admission advisement.
-
-
- Participants submitted 116 applications; 19 acceptances, and are attending schools like CSUN, USC, LMU, Brown, Cal State LA, and many more!
- Corps members could receive financial assistance to pay for application fees, test prep materials, etc.
