Your work with City Year
Before working at City Year, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
A while back I worked at an overnight summer camp. Towards the end of the summer when all the kids returned home the campgrounds opened up to a variety of rental groups. For a couple of days we hosted a dog association that provided activities and workshops for dog owners and their pups. I had the honor of lifeguarding for a few dogs and their owners at the waterfront. I even had a chance to ride in a canoe with a Great Dane.
How do you balance your career at City Year and your social life?
At times I can be inconsistent in balancing my work at City Year and my social life. I find personal reflection on both ends is beneficial for me to sort through my thoughts and to mentally troubleshoot issues. Also, finding time to break away from my usual routine helps me to recharge.
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
If I could do another job for one day I would work with a team of architects. I admire their creative minds and the stages of their work. From the start of imagining a design, taking time to sketch it out and turning it into a working model. Especially, when the final piece is constructed and takes the role of something that is visually funky and functional to the general public.
More About You
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see cast as you?
If Hollywood made a movie about my life it would be a coming of age film where Jeremy Suarez (from The Bernie Mac show) plays my kid self, Tyler James Williams (from Everybody Hates Chris) would portray my teenage and young adult years and Chris Rock (comedian) would take on my adult years.

If you could witness any historical event, what would you want to see?
If I could witness any historical event, I would want to see the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany when Jesse Owens won several gold medals despite the chaotic/hateful environment.
