Hello all! Meet the new City Year New Hampshire SLISTA team! For those of you who may not know, SLISTA combines the words Service Leader and VISTA. A service leader is an AmeriCorps member in their second year with City Year who is a mentor and guide for the new incoming AmeriCorps Members.  A VISTA is serving with the AmeriCorps program Volunteers in Service to America and is focused on capacity building projects for their host organization.  CYNH has VISTAS supporting Impact and the experience of the AmeriCorps members and supporting development and communications.

My name is Ian Kernohan, originally from Milton, MA. I'm a Service Leader serving at Northwest Elementary School. In a few years, I’d really like to see myself studying education policy and going into local or state government to change the way schools are run. I would also like to change the oppressive drug laws in this country. I’m really good at drawing maps of the continental United States freehand. I’ve recently gotten back into running in a much more casual, and thereby more successful, sense than ever before. I am also a huge fan of so many of the books Image Comics puts out! Read Saga! Read Paper Girls! Read Descender!

My name is Mary McManus. I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm pretty sure my superpower is parallel parking and my hobbies include, but are not limited to, reading/talking about books and playing my guitar! I can't wait to serve another year in Manchester as a service leader for McDonough Elementary school!

My name is Sean Stalling and I am from Texas (where I mostly grew up and have many fond memories from) and Arizona (where I was born and graduated from college). This year, I am serving as an Impact VISTA at City Year New Hampshire. I have a really big family that I love very much. I love spending time with them and watching my younger siblings grow up to be amazing human beings. I hope to be an elementary school teacher one day. A fun fact about myself is that I like to sing and dance loud and crazy. I like to read and I also play volleyball on a social sports team.

Hi, my name is Brittany Neuman and I am from Goffstown, NH. I am a Service Leader at Beech Street School. I would like to go to graduate school and earn my degree to become a School Social Worker. A fun fact about me would be that I broke my arm and had to get a metal plate implanted into my arm. I love to hang out with my siblings no matter what we are doing.

My name is Megan Klok and I proudly serve at Hallsville Elementary School as a Service Leader. I am 23 years old and from West Warwick, Rhode Island. I hope to pursue a career in higher education someday. My mission is to help college students, who are at such a transformative age, understand what role they can play in making our world a better place through community development and service. When I was in seventh grade, I performed in front of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. I like to read, go to the beach, do arts and crafts, and exercise.

My name is Lisa Carey and I am a Service Leader at Parker Varney Elementary School. I am from Quincy, Massachusetts. After City Year, I want to be a middle school or high school science teacher. I have always and will always love the Boston Red Sox.  A hobby of mine is that I love to walk on the beach or really near any body of water.

My name is Alysa Hemcher and I am a proud Service Leader at Bakersville Elementary School. I am from Gilford, NH but have spent a lot of time in Pennsylvania as well. As a result of my wonderful and transformative experience with City Year, I would love to one day become an elementary school principal, after spending a lot more time in the classroom. Something most people don't know about me is that I've been to more countries than states! My biggest hobby is couponing and I love a bargain!! My best deal was spending $5 dollars, saving $80, and getting $10 back in rewards for the next trip!

Hola, my name is Nina Santiago, I am 23 years young and I am from Lawrence, MA. I am returning to CYNH as a service leader at Gossler Park Elementary School. I used to think that I knew what I wanted to do in terms of my career path until I joined City Year. The relationships I have formed have helped me grow as an individual and see things differently. They have also helped me realize that there is a whole world full of adventure. Now, because of this I aspire to travel and ultimately would love to teach English in a foreign country; preferably Spanish speaking countries. I have a twin sister and we are fraternal (not identical). My hobbies include napping for long periods of time and being active in the gym or the great outdoors.

My name is Adam McAfee and I am from Nashua, NH. I graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in 2015 with a degree in Psychology and Peace and Conflict Studies. I have deferred acceptance to a graduate program to serve another year with City Year as a service leader at Beech Street School - so, my aspirations in life are to become a School Psychologist and advocate for students whose voices have been stifled. I enjoy playing tennis and street hockey - I also enjoy music that blows my mind. A fun fact about me is that I am a twin!

My name is Alyssa Babineaux and I serve as the Development VISTA for CYNH. My role is to support the needs of our Development staff and maintain connections with our alumni and the greater Manchester community. I am from Lafayette, Louisiana. That’s about 2 hours from New Orleans where everyone goes for Mardi Gras or to have a great time. My aspiration in life is to become a coroner and I’m working towards becoming a forensic pathologist. I am taking a pit stop in non-profit work because I always loved to give back, no matter what community I am a part of. I graduated from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette (go Ragin Cajuns!) and majored in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. I love to work in labs doing experiments/ dissecting. I also enjoy writing poetry and reading.

My name is Claudia Duran and I am a service leader at Parker Varney Elementary School. I am from San Diego, California. I attended CSU Monterey Bay where my major was Liberal Studies with a minor in Human Development. I love working with children and doing my part to make a difference in the lives of others. My passions are the fine arts: I love music, art, and dance. I also enjoy nature, but most importantly the ocean and the moon. I aspire to one day work as a Kindergarten teacher and to also work as a Child Life Specialist within the pediatric oncology ward at a Children's Hospital. A fun fact about myself is that I like darkness. If you get to know me, you'll understand why I find this so funny. One of my hobbies is doing makeup for events. I also enjoy going to concerts, hikes near the ocean, stargazing, and museums.

My name is Sara Rosen and I am from Paramus, NJ. I'm not sure of my life aspirations or career path at this point, but for now I'm just trying to get to know myself better and keep becoming the person I want to be while getting as many interesting experiences as possible. A fun fact is that I've been to 25 different countries so far, and counting! One hobby I have is that I really like visual arts, and try to find a space to create things as much as possible.

My name is Lindsey Sullivan, and I'm serving my second year with City Year New Hampshire as a Service Leader at Northwest Elementary School. I earned my Bachelor's in Public Relations at Florida State University. Last years’ experience as a first-year corps member changed the direction I was heading by opening my eyes to the possibility of a career in early childhood education. While I'm not supporting my team and students, I love hiking in the White Mountains (so far I've conquered 16 of the 48 4,000-footers!) and exploring the Northeast. I also enjoy reading and listening to music in my free time.

My name is Madeja Stewart and I was born and raised in New York City. I am a proud service Leader serving with Henry Wilson School. I hope to one day be a school district superintendent and eventually run for a public office so that I can make changes that make people aware of the injustices in our society and inspire them to want to make a difference. One fun fact about me is that I ate macaroni and cheese and only macaroni and cheese for a year of my life because my parents couldn't get me to eat anything else. I also love writing and doing yoga.
