On May 14th, City Year was joined by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care of New England Employees for the 7th annual Harvard Health Care Day of Service at NH Food Bank’s Production Garden in Manchester. We were also accompanied by AmeriCorps NCCC members, who have been working in the production garden for the past three weeks. More than 75 volunteers helped build vegetable washing and drying stations, weeded and flipped garden beds, installed an irrigation system, built picnic tables and painted benches. Approximately 60 students from Beech Street Elementary School joined the volunteers, planted seedlings to take home, and participated in healthy cooking and eating demonstrations by chefs from Great NH Restaurants and Feed NH.
