The iconic City Year Red Jacket is the physical representation of our AmeriCorps members' commitment to national service and the betterment of our communities. When our community and school partners see our Corps members wearing their red jackets they see a trusted figure: a leader, a tutor, a mentor, and role model.

On Friday, August 29, in Philadelphia, our 255 AmeriCorps members serving in the city's highest need schools dedicated their red jackets to the person or idea that motivates and inspires them to serve. The emotional and touching ceremony reminds all Corps members of the signifcance and responsibilty of the red jacket.

Pat Schwartz, executive director of PennSERVE, addressed the Corps during the Red Jacket Ceremony.
