NEW YORK and BOSTON, May 10, 2013 -- City Year, a national education-focused nonprofit organization that unites young people for a year of service in high-need schools, has been named in this year’s Top 100 Ideal Employer List by Universum Global, the Employer Brand Research Firm. During the 2012-2013 school year, 2,500 City Year corps members dedicated a year of full-time service to help students stay in school and on track to succeed. This is the first time City Year has made the list of the Top 100 Ideal Employers for college Liberal Arts majors; it debuted at #64. This year’s results were announced on May 8th at The Employer Branding Conference in New York.

“These companies are not only committed to building the best external brand to differentiate themselves, but also building an Employer Value Proposition that meets current and future employees’ needs,” said Universum President of the Americas, Melissa Murray Bailey. “These rankings are a great way for employers to celebrate their efforts. The insights and student preferences behind the rankings also allow employers to ensure their EVP remains competitive.”

The 2013 rankings of the IDEAL™ Employers are based on a survey of nearly 66,000 undergraduate students and reveal which employers have the most effective employer brand.

“City Year provides young people the opportunity to make a difference in some of our nation’s highest-need schools,” said Gillian Smith, City Year Chief Marketing Officer. “Being ranked among the Top 100 employers is an honor. It tells us City Year corps members are seeing the impact of their service, and that they’re developing skills they’ll use long after their year of transformative service.”
