City Year Tulsa is calling on friends and supporters to join us in the fight to preserve national service funding. Over the last week, the House and Senate Appropriations Committees have approved FY16 funding bills that propose drastic cuts to national service, jeopardizing services for students, veterans, military families, and communities recovering from natural disasters. The House bill cuts the Corporation for National and Community Service by 34% and could result in the elimination of 40,000 AmeriCorps positions or more. The Senate bill cuts the agency by 20% and reduces AmeriCorps support by $123 million, which could eliminate 20,000 positions. If these cuts go through, the critical work that City Year and many other local nonprofits would be seriously jeopardized and result in a huge setback for service in America. You can help by telling Senator Lankford and other representatives that we want them to #Stand4Service and restore vital funding to national service. The easiest way to send this message is through Twitter using the link below. Thank you for standing with City Year in support of national service.
